In order to receive Intensive Services (Adult or Dislocated Worker), you must first go through an in-person orientation with one of our Service Providers. You must schedule your orientation through this website. This is done through 4 easy steps:  1) Choose your eligibility below (after eligibility descriptions), 2) Enter your personal information (name, phone, email and zip code) on the next page, 3) Choose an orientation day, time and location, 4) Get your confirmation.

Intensive services are actually the first level of documented service within WIA. When customers are determined unable to find a job with existing skills in the current marketplace, they can request further assistance, including assignment of a case manager, counseling, assessment, coordinated referrals, and one-on-one job search assistance.

To be eligible for such services, customers must fall into one of two categories: Adult or Dislocated Workers.

  • Adult Program eligibility is based on:
    • 18 years of age or older;
    • Resident of Wake;
    • US citizen or eligible, non-citizen;
    • In compliance with Selective Service registration requirements;
    • Low income individual is defined as:
      • a. Receiving public assistance, i.e., Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI);
      • b. Family income for the 6-month period prior to application, in relation to family size, that does not exceed the higher of the poverty level or 70% of the lower living standard guidelines;
      • c. Member of a household receiving Food Stamps or eligible to receive Food Stamps within the 6-month period prior to application;
      • d. Qualifies as a Homeless person;
      • e. Qualifies as a Foster child;
      • f. An individual with a disability whose own income does not exceed the higher of the poverty level or 70% of the lower living standard guidelines

  • Dislocated Worker eligibility is based on:
    • 18 years of age or older;
    • Resident of Wake;
    • US citizen or eligible, non-citizen; and
    • Qualifies in one of the following categories:
      • a. An individual who has been terminated or laid off from employment, or received a notice of termination or layoff, and is eligible for, or has exhausted unemployment compensation, and is unlikely to return to previous occupation.
      • b. An individual who has been terminated or laid off from employment, or received a notice of termination or layoff, and has been employed for a duration sufficient to demonstrate attachment to the workforce, but is not eligible for unemployment compensation due to insufficient earnings.
      • c. An individual who has been terminated from employment as a result of permanent closure of a plant or facility.
